Re-gathering Letter

Dear Kenwood Family:

It has been a joy to stay connected digitally and by phone over the past couple of months. While we continue to encourage digital worship, we are also excited to offer in-person worship again. Praise God!

We understand that some are hungry to see and fellowship together while others need to continue to worship at home for personal and family reasons. Psalm 133:1 says, “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity.” God reigns over us all. We ask that we all exercise wisdom and be considerate and loving to the needs of others.

We have prayed, researched, reviewed state and national governmental websites and orders, surveyed the congregation, and consulted with medical practitioners. Since the virus is not yet completely understood, we are proceeding slowly, carefully, and humbly. As information on the virus is ever-evolving, all procedures are subject to change.

Currently, we have four 9:30 AM worship options.

  1. Worship with us at home in your own space through the live-stream which we are continuing.
  2. Worship in the Sanctuary will include singing, but will be limited to 75 people to allow for social distancing. Available seats will be marked. Masks are encouraged, but not mandatory.
  3. Worship in the Multipurpose Room will not include singing because of the smaller space. Chairs will be pre-set for you. Masks will be required.
  4. Worship in the Shelter House will be by way of a monitor so you can see, hear, and participate in the service. Please bring your own lawn or folding chair to participate. Self-organized social distancing is encouraged.

Sunday School classes will continue online and will not meet in the building at this time as most rooms are too small for social distancing and cannot be used more than once without thorough cleaning. (Your leader may adjust the Zoom time to best fit the needs of the class.) Children’s classes and child care will resume at a later date for the same reasons. Please note that the following areas of the building will be closed: the Children’s Wing entrance door, the Children’s Wing, the Fellowship Hall, and the Chapel.

Please be respectful of these guidelines. We desire to honor God through our unity.

  • We encourage you to wear a face mask. Any person in an active working or volunteering role will wear a mask, unless on the platform.
  • We remind everyone to keep at least a six-foot distance from non-family members and to refrain from physical contact.
  • We ask you to self-monitor prior to entering the church. Please take your temperature at home. If you or any member of your household has had a fever, shortness of breath, or other symptoms associated with the virus within the past three days, we ask that you worship from home.
  • Please bring your own Bibles or use an electronic version because we have removed the pew Bibles.
  • Bulletins will not be available in paper form, but will be available on the Kenwood app.
  • We have suspended serving coffee and food for the time being.
  • Tithes and offerings can be placed in the free-standing offering boxes. Alternatively, you can give online or by mail. We appreciate your faithfulness in giving.
  • We will also ask that you enter and exit quickly without lingering in confined areas.

What is most important is that we continue to worship and grow in the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. We are glad that this can happen on-line and at the Kenwood campus. Please worship responsibly based on your individual and family needs.

We look forward to sharing more news soon. Please feel free to reach out to the Deacons, Elders, and staff at any time.

With love from your Elders,
