Kenwood Baptist Church (Kenwood) is located 12 miles north of downtown Cincinnati but is at the geographic center of the general population surrounding the city.
Kenwood Baptist Church is an evangelical church affiliated with the American Baptist Church (ABC) denomination. With over 600 current members and friends of Kenwood we are a multi-generational, multicultural church. Currently Kenwood is represented by over 18 different native languages within the congregation.
Our Senior Pastor is Rev. Dr. David Palmer, is a pastor scholar who has been on staff for twelve years, ten of which as Associate Pastor and since early 2013 as Senior Pastor. Pastor David is the seventh full-time Senior Pastor to lead Kenwood over its long history.
The Greater Cincinnati area has about 2.1 million people. As a city, we boast all the cultural attractions of much larger cities as well as professional sports teams, two major universities and several smaller colleges. What ministries are available at Kenwood Baptist Church?
Sunday Morning Worship: The focal point of the church life is when we gather together as God’s people in Christ to offer Him our praise, to listen to His Word, and to enjoy the fellowship of the Holy Spirit among us. Recent audio sermons can be heard or transcripts downloaded at "Sermons Online."
Mid-Week Programs and Small Groups: Each Wednesday evening, September through May, a family style dinner is held at 6:00 pm followed by classes and programs for the whole family. These include Bible studies, Small Groups, children’s programs, Choir rehearsal and other short-term electives. Other Small Groups meet in homes on various nights of the week. Special outreach events: Kenwood hosts numerous area and community and congregational events. In October 2013 we hosted pastor, scholar and writer John Piper. In April 2014 we hosted Ken Elzinga, professor of Economics at the University of Virginia and board member of Intervarsity. The Annual Living Christmas Tree showcases our choir and provides a high quality program which attracts the community to hear the story of Christmas. Our summer soccer camp attracts both Kenwood and children from throughout the area. We also reach out through a local community festival called Deer Park Days in the Park.
Children & Family Ministry: Sunday school classes and music programs are offered as well as Wednesday night programs, a summer soccer camp open to the community, retreats and social activities. Learn more about Children and Family Ministry.
Women’s Ministry: Many studies and activities are held for women of all ages including a 9:30 am Thursday morning Bible study, monthly Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS), Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), and more.
Men’s Ministry: A weekly Bible Study is held Tuesday at Noon for men of all ages as well as a Young Adult prayer group is offered on Thursday evenings. Additionally, men participate in softball and golf outings spring through fall.
Student Ministry: Students in Junior High through High school participate in Sunday morning Bible Studies and weekly youth groups. They also enjoy fellowship and fun through the many social and recreational events offered through the year. Learn more about Student Ministry.
Music Ministry: Our Choir provides music each Sunday and for special programs. Rehearsals are each Wednesday at 6:45 pm. The Handbell Choir rehearses each Sunday night at 5:30. The Praise Band and Singers lead congregational singing during worship. Learn more about Music opportunities.
Audio/Video: If you are a technical or creative person, you are invited to be part of the teams that run the sound, lighting, and video systems that enhance worship each week.
Prayer Room: believing in the power of prayer to change ourselves and our world, we have a room which is available 24 hours a day. You can sign up for a regular time each week or drop in as you feel the need. The room is organized to help guide you in intercession and prayer. Learn more about Prayer at Kenwood.
Worship Support: Greeters/Ushers/Hosts & Hostesses greet visitors each week, hand out bulletins, and help direct people to rooms.
